Their thirst-quenching qualities have meant that large volumes are produced in Cyprus for local consumption. However, the recent development of new international hybrids, some of which are seedless, has resulted in increased demand on export markets.

Potatoes

Potatoes

Potatoes from Cyprus are renowned for their great flavour and firm texture. They are easily distinguishable by the reddish colour of their skins, derived from the fertile red soil they are grown mainly in around Kokinohoria (red soil villages), on the Eastern region of Cyprus.

Fresh Grapes

Cyprus is a major producer of wines and table grapes and grape production in the island is as ancient as the history of the country. Table grapes are grown along the coastline and on the lower mountain slopes in the area stretching from Limassol to Paphos. Grape maturity varies by area thereby enabling the season to be extended. Main Varieties Sultana, Thompson, Cardinal, Superior, Perlette, Gold, Verico Seasonal Availability Grapes: June to October
